Michael Moon have been involved in the sale and purchase of homes on the North Merseyside coast for more than 40 years. In that time we have come to know the area like the back of our hands and know it as a great place to live with friendly considerate neighbours and wonderful facilities on the doorstep.
Over such a long time fashions have come and gone and one of the biggest changes has been in Liverpool which has gone from a city suffering from political and racial issues into a vibrant modern centre with fantastic buildings and lots of cultural activities in addition to great shopping and restaurants. Always famous for it musical heritage with memories of the Beatles, Cilla and Gerry and the Pacemakers to mention but a few.
Just to the north of Liverpool are the areas that we know best. Here we can offer everything from sensibly priced starter homes to luxury detached houses ranging from the Victorian era right through to contemporary classics. The coastline and beaches are expansive and the views back to Liverpool are amazing. At Crosby we have the iconic Iron Men on the beach who come and go with the tide and live in an ever changing environment. This is the place for an embracing walk no matter the time of year. If you want to combine your walk with more activity then West Lancashire golf club is a true links experience set alongside the sand dunes affording open views of the Mersey Estuary. The shopping areas, pubs and restaurants of Crosby and Blundellsands are friendly places to spend your time.
Going further past the village of Hightown we come to Formby and Freshfield. This is an aspirational location with a great heart and excellent choice of housing. The beach here is approached via the famous Pinewoods which are home to the National Trust and the reserve for the Red Squirrels of which the Formby residents are justifiably proud. For walkers the trails through the Pinewoods can take you all the way up the coast to Ainsdale and you will never tire of all the trails and lovely views. Formby Village is home, not only to shopping but cafes and restaurants and in recent years the continental cafe culture has been growing here.
For Golfers Formby Golf Club is a must and it has the unusual quality of being two clubs in one as it has a separate Ladies Club which helps to generate some friendly competition.
Moving further north we arrive at Ainsdale which is the start of the Southport area. This is a relaxed location whiachy again has easy access tro the beach and has its own village centre with a unique character.
Birkdale village has over the years become a really fashionable centre in its own right with wonderful local produce shops, restaurants and cafés. The housing stock here is traditional and substantial. The Royal Birkdale Golf Club is home to the Open Championship which is played here every 10 years or so.
Southport is an elegant Victorian Town with a magnificent treelined boulevard lined with shops with original Victorian canopies which give an unique ambience. A great place to explore with the Wayfarers Arcade at its heart boasting exclusive stores with an atmospheric café and restaurant. The main promenade at Southport is well set back and features magnificent Victorian buildings overlooking a boating lake, the pier and the sea.
